The Women In APIs initiative was started as part of selected apidays conferences in 2019. It began as a way for women and their allies to meet and explore topics of interest to the community. The broad intent was to bring better balance into the speaker / panel line-ups and attendance at apidays events.

 

In partnership with APIsFirst, the initiative expanded from 2020 to offer virtual programs and meetups during the pandemic. As apidays conferences went back to in-person programs, our programs and meetups expanded.

 

Our GET /Connecting meetups have become part of the regular agenda at apidays conferences and other industry and API events. Our GET /Speaking program has been run as in-person and/or hybrid format across four continents and given hundreds of future speakers the nudge they need. Many alum have gone on to speak at apidays events and other sponsor and industry conferences.
